The first newsletter of the DIRECT project presents the path to a more responsible digital future
The first newsletter of the European project DIRECT - Digital Responsibility Education and Training is now available and presents the main objectives, upcoming activities and expected results of the initiative. The publication offers readers a brief and accessible look at the concept of digital responsibility and how the project will contribute to its wider integration into education, training and the professional environment.
DIRECT is a three-year project funded by the Erasmus+ programme, bringing together eight partner organisations from six European countries. The initiative is driven by the need for a more ethical, inclusive and sustainable use of digital technologies. At a time when technology is changing the way we work, learn, communicate and make decisions, digital responsibility is becoming an increasingly important competence for learners, educators and organisations alike.
In the first newsletter, readers can learn more about DIRECT’s mission to raise awareness about the societal and environmental impact of digitalization, to encourage critical and ethical thinking, and to provide educators with practical tools to integrate digital responsibility into their teaching. The project will also support the development of skills that meet both future labor market demands and broader societal priorities.
Special attention in the newsletter is also paid to the main results that will be developed within the project. Among them are: Digital Responsibility Competency Framework, based on real ethical dilemmas; innovative learning paths and multilingual training modules; a personalized skills analysis tool that will identify individual gaps and recommend appropriate training; and interactive online platform, which will provide a flexible and accessible way to train in digital responsibility.
The publication also traces one of the first important moments in the development of DIRECT – the launch partnership meeting held on May 19-20, 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece. It brought together representatives of all eight partner organizations and laid the foundations for joint work on building digital responsibility competencies through innovative training, skills analysis and inclusive educational solutions.
The first newsletter also presents the European partnership behind DIRECT, which brings together universities, vocational education and training organizations, business representatives and innovation experts from Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Slovenia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands. The diverse profile of the consortium allows the topic of digital responsibility to be examined from different perspectives and to be connected to the real needs of education, business and society.
