InnoTrans 2026, which took place from September 22 to 25 in Berlin. InnoTrans is the world's leading exhibition for transport technology and this year brought together nearly 175,000 professional visitors from over 120 countries and 3,190 exhibitors from 59 countries.
During the exhibition, Express Service presented its ES3000 battery-powered shunting locomotive, designed for heavy shunting operations in industrial facilities, ports, terminals, maintenance depots and logistics centres.
The locomotive was part of InnoTrans’s outdoor display, which featured railway vehicles and technologies with a focus on new propulsion concepts and the development of more efficient and sustainable transport.
A technological solution developed and manufactured in Ruse
The ES3000 is Express Service’s own model, developed and manufactured at the company’s production facility. The locomotive is designed for industrial applications requiring high tractive effort and reliable performance during intensive shunting operations.
According to the published technical specifications, the model has a weight of approximately 48 tonnes, a power output of 90 kW and a battery capacity of 220 kWh, and can handle loads of up to 3,000 tonnes.
Its battery-powered drive makes the locomotive suitable for operation in enclosed spaces as well, providing a cleaner and quieter working environment during industrial shunting operations. The company has been developing battery traction technologies for years and designs, manufactures, repairs and modernises locomotives in Ruse.
Following the exhibition, the locomotive presented in Berlin was transported to Poland, where it is expected to undergo a national homologation procedure at a transport institute in Warsaw before entering service.
Ruse represented on the international railway stage
Express Service’s participation in an event of this scale is another example of the international presence of Ruse’s engineering industry and of the ability of local companies to develop and manufacture specialised technological solutions for international markets.
