The Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA) is organizing a trade mission with the participation of Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at the international trade fair Sri Lanka Expo 2027, which is to be held in the period January 12–18, 2027. in the city of Colombo, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The initiative is implemented under Project No. BG16RFPR001-1.013-0001 "Implementation of measures for the internationalization of Bulgarian SMEs by supporting the activities of the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA) - Phase 2", funded by the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Program 2021-2027, co-financed by the European Union.

Sectoral focus and opportunities for global cooperation

Sri Lanka Expo 2027 is organized by the government agency Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and serves as an international platform for integrating companies into global value chains. The exhibition will feature sectoral sessions, B2B meetings and an investment forum to connect investors with high-potential projects.

The trade mission is aimed at SMEs from key sectors with high added value:

• Digitalization and artificial intelligence;
• Fintech and cybersecurity;
• Mechanical engineering and automation;
• Technologies for the food industry;
• Other priority production and technological areas according to the National Strategic Plan for the Economy and Social Policy 2021-2027.

Participation provides an opportunity for direct contacts with potential customers, distributors, investors and R&D partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

Financial support and priority for the regions in the country

The project is entirely focused on supporting the internationalization of businesses from less developed regions, including North Central Region. For up to 12 ranked enterprises approved for participation, BSMEPA fully or partially covers the costs for one representative, including:

• Round-trip airfare, transfers and domestic transportation;
• Hotel accommodation;
• Entrance fees for conferences and networking events;
• Organizing bilateral B2B meetings and on-site visits;
• Media and advertising support.

Enterprises participating for the first time in a promotional event under this project receive 100% financing of the costs. For companies with subsequent participation, self-financing of 30% of the costs incurred is provided.

Application conditions and deadline

The Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry calls on export-oriented and innovative companies from the Ruse district and the region to take advantage of the opportunity provided to enter new international markets.
