Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica
Ciência Viva - The mission of the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture is to promote scientific culture in Portuguese society, for all audiences, with a special emphasis on the younger strata and the school population. It carries out its activity along three main axes:
- promoting the teaching of experimental sciences in primary and secondary education;
- organizing scientific information dissemination campaigns aimed at the general public;
- creation of a National Network of Ciência Viva Centers, interactive spaces for the dissemination of science that contribute to regional development, currently with 21 members.
Ciência Viva originates from the eponymous program created by the Ministry of Science and Technology on July 1, 1996. About two years later, Ciência Viva acquired the status of an association with public institutions and research laboratories as members.
