The final partnership meeting of the international project “BE-Digital – Alliance for Promoting Innovation in Business and Education through Digital Supply Chains”, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, on June 4-5, 2025. The event was organized by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and brought together leading educational and business organizations from across Europe.
About the BE-Digital Project
The BE-Digital project was launched in July 2022 with the ambition to identify and address digital needs in the supply chain ecosystem by developing an innovative educational program for students and professionals from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The main goal was to create modern digital competencies through collaboration between educational institutions and businesses in Europe.
The project covered four key technology areas:
- Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Data analytics and blockchain technologies
- Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR)
The consortium, including partners from Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal and other European countries, has successfully created specialized educational courses combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to manage modern digital supply chains.
Main Results and Achievements of The Project
Over the past three years, the project partners have implemented a number of important activities, including:
- Developing innovative courses that combine cutting-edge educational methodologies and interactive tools, including virtual scenarios and specialized digital platforms.
- Conducting successful pilot trainings in the four thematic areas, in which students and SME representatives from Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Portugal participated.
- Creating sustainable partnerships between universities, technology companies and industrial organizations to effectively integrate digital technologies into education and business.
Particular emphasis was placed on the practical application of technologies such as AGV, IoT and blockchain, with pilot courses demonstrating how businesses can actually benefit from digital transformation.
Overall Effect on The Business Community
The project results are of great importance for SMEs, which can now integrate proven and innovative digital technologies to increase their competitiveness and sustainability.
