The central entrance of the Regional Library was renovated with a donation from RTIK
Today, the director of the "Lyuben Karavelov" Regional Library, Teodora Evtimova, presented a certificate of donation to the executive director of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Milen Dobrev. With funds from the Chamber, the central entrance of the old part of the building, which was unusable for many years due to structural problems, was repaired and renewed.
The donation has a strong symbolic value - the building was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the needs of the first Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, and the central entrance welcomed many prominent industrialists and merchants from Ruse and the region. The original ornaments of the central entrance have been restored and renewed, the most impressive of which is the symbol of Mercury - the ancient Roman god, protector of merchants, travelers, finance and communications.
More than 100 years later, the building again has a presentable and finished look, which also coincided with RTIK's initiatives to celebrate 130 years since the establishment of the first Chamber of Commerce in the country. One of the events was the sealing of the "Time Capsule" in the library, which took place on December 30, 2020. In it, along with the first of 130 bottles of limited wine from the village of Nisovo, produced especially for the anniversary, a photo album with photos from Ruse on Yavor Michev, wishes from the administrative heads of the city, a replica of the first seal of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the best 16 essays that took part in the essay contest, which in an unconventional way marked 130 years since the establishment of the Chamber, are also included. The capsule will be stored for 20 years and will be opened on RTIK's 150th anniversary in 2040.
