Get to know the program of the European Night of Scientists Ruse 2022 | SEARCH

European night of scientists is again in Ruse and thanks to our partners and guest speakers we managed to put together an amazing and exciting program. We hope everyone discovers something for themselves and enjoys this amazing experience that opens the doors to the world of science for young and old. Come on 30.09.2022 to our 4 locations and you will enjoy presentations, demonstrations, lectures and meetings with scientists from all over the country.

Competitions in the European night scientists 2022 - SEARCH

The formula this year is SEARCH-Science+Environment+Art=Resilience, and everything about the project and program can be found in the digital space behind #ERN22SEARCH

The events for Ruse are free, and the program is:

14:30 – 15:00 "Glass - stories and collections" of RIM - Ruse 
"Glass - stories and collections" is an exhibit located in the Museum of Urban Life, also known to Rusyns as the Calliope's House. The exhibition presents the role of glass in the development of society, its essence as a sign of modernity and luxury, as well as its place and importance in social relationships. The exposition will be presented by - Iskra Todorova - curator in the "Ethnography" department. 

Location 1 - RTIK Conference Hall, Ruse, Tsar Ferdinand Blvd. 3A, 2nd floor

"Smart Industry"  is a meeting with scientists, entrepreneurs and engineers who will tell us about their innovative solutions involving science and technology and how they solve significant problems of our time. The lectures are suitable for young people and adults, and the public can order on the spot or follow the broadcast of the lectures on RTIK's online channels.

15:00 – 15:30 "There's a place for 'old dogs': affordable circular electromobility instead of energy-intensive scrap"

What is circular electromobility and how can it ease traffic and air pollution? Is it available to Bulgarians in small towns as well? What is a car conversion? Master engineer Ivaylo Tsonev, co-founder and manager of Renerko OOD, will speak on these issues.

15:30 – 16:00 "The Internet of Things (IoT): How Technology Serves Us to Save Resources"

We will meet with Elena Boevska - software and business development specialist and Yasen Kolev - automation, electronics and cybernetics engineer from Predistik OOD. We will learn how the technologies of the future serve us to save resources and reduce our impact on the environment. We will find out what IoT is and how it can be applied in industry, agriculture, transportation and even everyday life, and also what it takes to become an IoT engineer? 

16:00 – 16:30 "Artificial Intelligence - Next Generation Prevention and Screening"

Can our mobile phone become a pocket diagnostic tool? How can artificial intelligence help in the early diagnosis of diseases such as peripheral vascular disease, breast cancer and rheumatoid arthritis? These questions will be answered by Georgi Kudrev - a lecturer at the Department of Software Technologies of SU "Kliment Ohridski", entrepreneur and co-founder of the companies Imagga Technologies and Kelvin Health, whose technologies are internationally recognized and awarded numerous awards. 

16:30 – 17:00 "Robots at work!" 

How do industrial robots work? What are their advantages? What are the steps in creating an industrial robot? We will talk about these and other issues with Svetoslav Vasilev, who is a manager and partner in CIVIKO OOD.

Location 2 "Children's Palace", city of Ruse, 12 Olimpi Panov St

We invite all children aged 4-12 years and their families to join our scientific and creative workshops. 

17:30 – 19:00 – "Colored Glass"

 Together with Elise Artunyan - teacher and hobby artist, we will create works of art on glass objects while learning interesting facts about stained glass.  

17:30 – 19:00 – "Glass Symphony" 

Become a part of our scientific-creative workshop, during which we will create music through glass surfaces, experiment with glass sounds and modern technologies. The workshop will be led by Petya Stefanova - music pedagogue, teacher at Ruse University "Angel Kanchev".

17:30 – 20:30 – "3D Space Atelier" 

Together with the teacher Katya Stefanova, we will learn interesting facts about the Earth, the Moon and Mars by teleporting into space using 3D visualization.

17:30 – 20:30 – "Under the Microscope" 

Together with Ina Ganeva - Montessori teacher and pedagogue, we will observe under a microscope various ready-made samples of plant species, insects, textiles and vegetables in our educational microscope laboratory.

17:00 – 17:30 – Opening of the European Night of Scientists Ruse 2022

19:00 – 22:00 "Chemical Miracles with the Rapid Thunder Corps" 

The chemical trials and experiments of the Corps for rapid thunder at SU "St. Kliment Ohridski" will convince you that chemists are more than magicians. Attractive trials and demonstrations, suitable for young and old, await you. 

Location 4: Luben Karavelov Regional Library

17:30 – 18:30 – "Hydrogen - the green fuel of the future"

Is hydrogen the solution to the energy crisis? Can we have an all-green fuel? A team from RU "Angel Kanchev" and their students will tell us more about hydrogen. You will see how, using a fuel cell, hydrogen is converted into electricity and only water vapor is released. You'll get a close-up look at a hydrogen-powered city car prototype.

18.00 – 19.00 – Green Science Creative Workshop

Together with Veronika Dimitrova - senior teacher of "Man and Nature" and "Chemistry and Environmental Protection" at "Ivan Vazov" Elementary School, we will deal with the so-called "green" science. We will find out what solar panels are and what we drive with them. We will make a natural battery and biodegradable plastic and play the science game "Electricity". The workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years.

18.00 – 21.00 – Robo factory

We invite all children aged 5 to 14 to meet the robots Marty and Finch. With their help, we will take our first steps into the world of robotics and engineering. Our guide will be Pavel Goranov - a member of the RBLK team and robotics instructor in the "In the World of Innovations" association 

19:00 – 19:30 – "Glass photo plaques - a window to the past" 

How to photograph on glass? How does a technology from the past achieve images with high quality and detail? What did Rousse look like in the period between the two world wars? These questions will be answered by Yovcho Stoyanov - manager of the "RuschukBG" association. After that, anyone interested can observe original photo plates from 80-90 years ago. The event is suitable for a mixed audience. 

19:00-20:00 – "Magic Painting with Magic Sand"

Did you know that glass is made from sand? Did you know that you can paint with sand? Together with Boyana Kostadinova - librarian specialist at RBLK, we will apply the creative technique of coloring and painting with sand. We will challenge ourselves to make paintings on a scientific theme as well. The workshop is suitable for children over 3 years old, and it is desirable that the youngest are accompanied. 

20:00-21:00 "With a suitcase, a book and a compass"

Together with Sevdalina Todorova - librarian specialist at RBLK, we will tour the planet in 1 hour. We will get to know different peoples and cultures from all continents. We will have fun and learn dances from distant countries. We will try to write in some of the most exotic alphabet systems. The workshop is suitable for children from 7 to 10 years old.
