Ruse Chemicals AD

Ruse Chemicals AD is the largest producer of phthalic anhydride in Eastern Europe. Ruse Chemicals AD is part of the POLYCOLOR group. The main shareholder is Whitebeam Holdings Limited, headquartered in Malta, owned by the company Policolor, Romania.

The more than 110-year history of Orgahim dates back to the founding in 1901 of a trading company under the name "Albert B. Iskovich". The company goes through different forms of ownership, through economic crises and world wars. In September 2013, "ORGAHIM" AD was divided into three independent companies:

• "Orgahim" JSC - manufacturer of paints and varnishes.
• "Ruse Chemicals" JSC - producer of phthalic and maleic anhydrides;
• "Orgachim Resins" JSC - producer of synthetic resins and polyvinyl acetate dispersions;

Ruse Chemicals AD is located in the city of Ruse on the northern border of Bulgaria, 71 km from the capital of Romania - Bucharest. The company has its own (completely independent from "Orgahim" AD) production site of 111,864 km.m. The plant for the production of phthalic and maleic anhydrides, made under BASF's license, began functioning in 1991. Its annual capacity is 22,000 tons of Phthalic anhydride and 700 tons of Maleic anhydride. In addition to the installation for the production of anhydrides, the company also has installations: for crystallization and cutting of phthalic anhydride; for the production of demineralized water; installation for incineration of liquid and solid waste, ensuring waste-free production.

The company sells the produced quantities of phthalic and maleic anhydride mainly in Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Greece, Ukraine, etc.

Ruse Chemicals AD as a company that guarantees the quality of the offered chemicals, that is responsible for the health of people and the protection of the environment is certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 by TUV NORD CERT GmbH.

As a company that invests in new technologies, "Orgachem" JSC is included in the EuroBioRef project, launched on 01.03.2010, coordinated by CNRS - France. The company is one of the 28 partners from 14 different countries participating in it. The project deals with the overall transformation process of biomass from agricultural production to the sphere of final commercial products. "Orgahim" AD is looking for an alternative method for the production of Maleic Anhydride.
