NSI notes growth in industrial production

Industrial production in Bulgaria grew by 13.2% in November last year compared to the same month of 2020, preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) show.

This is the fourth consecutive month of growth for the indicator. The monthly increase was 1.4%, the statistics of the calendar-adjusted index also show.

Annual changes

On an annual basis, growth in industrial production, calculated from the calendar-adjusted data, was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity and heat energy and gas - by 48%, in the mining industry - by 42.3%, and in the processing industry - by 5.5%.

Significant growth in the manufacturing industry in November compared to the same month of 2020 was observed in: manufacturing, not classified elsewhere – by 62.7%, manufacturing of computer and communication equipment, electronic and optical products – by 50.6%, printing and reproduction recorded media – with 22.4%, production of textiles and textile products, excluding clothing – with 16.9%.

The statistics recorded the biggest decline in: the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers – by 28.1%, the production of beverages – by 23.6%, the repair and installation of machinery and equipment – by 16.8%.

Monthly changes

In November 2021, an increase compared to October was registered in the mining industry - by 8.2%, and in the processing industry - by 0.7%, and a decrease - in the production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas - by 2.6%.

NSI observes a significant growth in the processing industry in: production, not classified elsewhere - by 31.1%, production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 16.5%, production of beverages - by 5.2%, production of products from other non-metallic mineral raw materials - with 5%.

A more significant decrease was registered in: the repair and installation of machinery and equipment - by 17.4%, the production of textiles and textile products, excluding clothing - by 9.4%, the production of computer and communication equipment, electronic and optical products - by 3.5%, the production of vehicles, excluding cars - with 3.4%.
