Representatives of the Embassy of Pakistan got acquainted with the opportunities for economic cooperation in Ruse and the region

Today, May 22, Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The guests in Ruse were the temporary managing director of the embassy, Mr. Marwan Ayyash, Mr. Akram Khan - administrative coordinator, Mrs. Madlena Ivanova - secretary, and Prof. Dr. Blagovest Belev - a long-time employee of the embassy.

During the meeting, RTIK Executive Director Milen Dobrev introduced the diplomats to the main economic characteristics of the city and the region, the most important industrial and commercial branches, logistical possibilities and prospects for trade and joint business. He drew attention to the 130-year history of the Chamber and the role it played in the development of Ruse after Liberation.

The guests expressed particular interest in the opportunities offered by Ruse from the point of view of its strategic location as a commercial crossroads between the Middle East and Europe. Although much of the trade exchange between Pakistan and Bulgaria is currently focused on the textile industry, there has also been interest in the fashion industry and the many fashion companies operating in Ruse. Last but not least, good practices in Internet technologies and the computer industry were also discussed, with the diplomats sharing that the two countries are actually quite close in this regard, and much closer cooperation in this area is possible. This is of particular interest in the current global situation where face-to-face contact is limited and online work can continue without problems.

Currently, a Memorandum of Cooperation is being prepared between the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the city of Rawalpindi - an important economic center near the capital Islamabad, and the fourth largest city in Pakistan. The Memorandum is expected to be signed next month.
